Chatteris hopes that everyone enjoyed bringing in the year 2012. CNETs are back to their schools after exciting adventures over the Christmas holiday.

January is exam time in Hong Kong so CNETs are busy working with students to help them prepare for the speaking elements of exams.  CNETs are also preparing activities for students to enjoy once the exams have finished.

Chinese New Year is quickly approaching and many CNETs will be off again to explore different areas of Asia.   For those who are staying in Hong Kong, there will be many festivities to partake in including dragon dancing, exchanging red packet money (laisee), trying new foods and much more!

Chatteris International Graduate Programme Update

We are fast approaching Christmas and the CNETs are busy hosting Christmas activities and events at their schools. Popular activities so far have been Christmas Karaoke, making Christmas Stars and decorating Christmas trees. Students really enjoy learning about Western traditions from the CNETs.

Over the last month CNETs have participated in Chatteris Love activities which included dragon boat racing! We have a Chatteris Christmas party coming up this month to celebrate the successes and hard work of everyone in the Chatteris Team.

Many CNETs are taking advantage of the Christmas holidays and are going off to explore neighbouring countries in Asia such as; Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, whilst others are lucky enough to have family or friends visiting. Chatteris wishes everyone well over the Christmas break and a happy New Year!

Chatteris International Graduate Programme Update
October was a busy month in the Chatteris International Graduate Programme. The CNETs hosted a variety of events in their schools.  Halloween activities were most popular amongst students of all ages.  Students enjoyed dressing up, playing scary games and speaking lots of English!

Throughout October CNETs met at the Chatteris Office to share interests and learn more about Chinese culture. The Chatteris Cultural and Social activities that took place were a Cantonese Taster workshop, Travelling Asia workshop and Mahjong workshop.  At these workshops, CNETs were able to actively participate in learning more about these topics.  The monthly Chatteris Cultural and Social event was a Halloween Party. CNETs enjoyed showing off their costumes during a fashion show and eating Halloween treats.  Also in October, 18 enthusiastic CNETs made their way to Lantau Island to participate in the Hong Kong International Coastal Cleanup where they collected rubbish along Pui O beach.  All together they collected over 850 pieces of rubbish from the shore!  The data they collected has been sent in to Ecovision’s Data Manager, which after confirmation, will be submitted to the Ocean Conservancy to be included in the global report.  Overall, it was a great day for those who participated.

Chatteris International Graduate Programme Update

The 2011 – 2012 programme year began on 8 August, with the arrival of 63 CNETs from the UK, USA and Canada.

Orientation took place during August on Ma Wan Island at Noah’s Ark Resort.  While staying at the unique location of the Ark, CNETs were able to participate in many exciting activities to help them integrate into Hong Kong and feel part of an international team.  There was a delicious Welcome Lunch where the CNETs tried many new and interesting Dim Sum dishes, a trip to the harbor front to watch the Symphony of Lights and a full-day guided bus tour of Hong Kong.

Throughout the first week of orientation, CNETs got to know each other through fun, interactive activities which included a tour and scavenger hunt around Ma Wan Island, team building games, a student day camp and much more!  During the evenings, CNETs were able to spend their time relaxing on the beach or trying out new foods.

In the second and third week of orientation, Primary, Secondary and Post Secondary school teams worked with students as part of their training for their placement school. The CNETs developed their skills whilst providing an educational and motivating environment for the students.

In September, the CNETs started their placements and have been there for a month now. They have enjoyed getting to know the students in class activities and outside the classroom. The first month is the most challenging and a steep learning curve for all CNETs. The Chatteris Project Management Team and school teachers work in collaboration to support CNET development and to design and deliver fun and interactive educational lessons and activities.

In addition, there have been many Chatteris Social and Cultural activities over the past months for the team, including a Junk Boat Trip, an activity day in Tai Po and Mid-Autumn Festival activities.

Official recruitment for the programme year 2012 – 2013 will open on 1 November 2011. Early application is advised.
