- Opportunities for graduates to explore the feasibility of developing a career in teaching- Experience gained during a year with Chatteris can prove extremely useful for developing a teaching career. It can help you enter professional teaching courses in your home country that require prior teaching experience. Alternatively, a year’s teaching experience in Hong Kong could help you find other TESL positions, work and travel around the globe.
- Real School Experience- Chatteris CNETs are placed in Hong Kong schools, not language centres. CNETs gain valuable experience working with students and local teachers in a real school environment.

Workshops, seminars, tutorials and Chinese language lessons are held throughout the year to help CNETs grow professionally.
- Fair Working Hours- The work culture in Asia is different to Western working environments and long hours are common practice here. However, Chatteris is committed to ensuring CNETs have a reasonable workload and have a standard 8 hour day, 5 day working week. We expect the highest performance both in the classroom and in organising activities for your students. Therefore CNETs teach a maximum of 20 hours a week, with adequate time allotted for the preparation and the running of activities and events.
- Holidays- CNETs follow school holiday timetables. Inclusive of Public Holidays CNETs can expect up to 30 days holiday during their contract.
- Travel Asia Pacific Region- With more than 30 days holiday over the course of the school year, Hong Kong is an excellent base from which to explore Asia and beyond. There are a host of popular travel destinations including mainland China, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos lie just a few hours away from you in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is also convenient for visiting Australia and New Zealand.
